UPCOMING CONFERENCES ATTENDED BY ELSEVIER

12th International Conference on Harmful Algae
4-8 September 2006
DGI-byen Conference Center, Copenhagen, Denmark

The impact of harmful algae has grown with the increasing use of coastal waters for commercial and recreational purposes and the increased need for clean drinking water caused by the world's growing population. The conference aims at addressing all aspects related to causes and effects of marine and freshwater harmful microalgae, and to serve as a forum for exchange of new research results and ideas among researchers, industry, government and local users, and other interested parties.

ICES Annual Science Conference 2006
September 19-23, 2006
MECC Convention Center, Maastricht, Netherlands

These yearly meetings are being organized by ICES, the organisation that coordinates and promotes marine research in the North Atlantic. The 2006 Annual Science Conference includes topics such as harmful algae bloom dynamics, large-scale changes in the migration of small pelagic fish, climatic variability in the ICES area as well as census of marine life: community and species biodiversity in marine benthic habitats from the coastal zone to the deep sea.

Marine Genomics Meeting 2006
October 28-Nov 1, 2006
Hilton Sorrento Palace, Sorrento, Italy

The event, organised by the Marine Genomics Europe Network of Excellence, will focus on four key areas: developmental genomics; environmental genomics; evolutionary genomics; and population genomics. Speakers from across Europe will participate, along with experts from the US, China, Australia and Japan.

American Geophysics Union (AGU)
December 11-15, 2006
Moscone Center West, San Francisco, USA

The AGU is a worldwide scientific community that through research advances the understanding of Earth and space. The 2006 AGU Fall Meeting provides an opportunity for researchers, teachers, students, and consultants to present and review the latest issues affecting the Earth, the planets, and their environments in space. This meeting will cover topics in all areas of Earth and space sciences.
